Student Drop-off and Pick-up

Subject:  Bus Pick/Up and Drop/Off Location & Traffic Changes

It is the mission of Millington Central High School to create a safe environment for all students.  As part of the historical changes that are taking place on our campus, our district is in the process of demolishing several buildings; therefore, we must establish new traffic procedures for this year.

Bus Pick/Up and Drop/Off

The Bus Pick/Up and Drop/Off location will be on West St. parallel to the back (behind the visitor section) of the football stadium.  All bus riders will load and unload buses in this area and enter the school from the main building entrance.  Buses will begin unloading at 6:45 am and buses will be dismissed between 2:05 - 2:10 pm.  Bus riders may enter the building through the Main Entrance and move directly to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.

Parent Pick/Up and Drop/Off for Car Riders

Parent Pick/Up and Drop/Off for Car Riders will be in front of the Annex building.  Parents picking up or dropping off students should enter the first Annex Entrance off Easley (closest to School Street).  Similar to the way we conducted operations last year, we will designate two lanes in the Annex parking lot with orange cones for the pick/up and drop/off of students.  Parent Pick/Up and Drop/Off Car Riders may enter the building through the Main Entrance and move directly to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.

Changes to West St. Parking for Students & Public

Based on the advice of City of Millington officials, the parking spots along West St. are no longer available for use.  These spaces will be blocked on Monday and will eventually be restriped in upcoming weeks to designate no parking.  With the exception of MCHS staff and teachers, West St. will be closed between the hours of 6:30-7:15 & 1:45-2:15 to thru traffic from Easley St.  Teachers will be allowed to enter West St. from Easley St. and should be prepared to present an MMS ID and/or MCHS hang tag to MPD officers/crossing guards.  Visitor Parking will be provided in the circle drive in front of the Main Building after 7:15 am.

Student Driver Entrance/Exit Routes

There will be one entrance for student drivers in the morning and evening.  All students will enter the back of campus at the intersection of Wilkinsville Rd. and Second Street.  Second St. is closed to all other thru traffic.  Based on the advice of City of Millington officials, students will need to enter the intersection (Wilkinsville Rd. and Second Street) from Navy Rd.  This should take place each morning until Wilkinsville is completely finished.

For afternoon dismissal, student drivers will make a left out of their assigned parking locations and proceed to the intersection of Wilkinsville Rd. and Second Street.  A Shelby County SRO will be located at this intersection to help direct afternoon dismissal.  Students are not allowed to go through the Civic Center parking lot to bypass this intersection.
