Hello My Name Is...
Jeana Decker
As an alumni
of the University of Memphis, assistant principal Mrs. Jeana Decker represents
the Memphis and Millington area well. After earning her bachelor’s in
education, Decker continued her education at the master’s level and earned a
degree in counseling / personal
services. Afterwards, she added an endorsement in administration supervision.
As an assistant principal, Decker oversees the guidance department and the
attendance office, two enormous and time consuming jobs. In addition, she works
closely with the principal in the area of curriculum and instruction. She
tackles her responsibilities at MCHS in the same way she tackled her education.
“It’s very moving; we are always keeping our heads up,” says Decker.
As a school
guidance counselor, Decker was drawn to administration. She worked closely with
previous principals and found the experience rewarding. Friends urged her to
return to school and she followed the advice. “I kind of just fell into
[administration]. I love it,” said Decker.
In her rare
down times, Decker enjoys football games and her Jack Russell. Every Friday,
Trojan fans can find her at the tailgate parties with other faculty and staff.
In addition to ball games, Decker delights in the fresh air of the outdoors.
“In my free time I like to sit on my patio and do nothing,” says Decker. No
doubt, the respite is well deserved.
