Exam Exemptions

Students must have a 90 or above semester average, three or fewer EXCUSED absences, and NO UNEXCUSED absences to be exempt from each class exam. Student must have been enrolled at MCHS all semester to qualify.

School sponsored activities do not count as absences.

ISS days count as excused absences from class; OSS is unexcused. 

College visit days are included in the three excused absences. 

Documentation should already be on file for absences. New notes will not be accepted outside the three day window stated in the student handbook.  

Parents and students should direct any attendance/exemption questions to the teacher(s) of the class(es) in question. 

No early exams will be given. 
 

Check in/out procedures during exams

Checkouts are ONLY allowed in between classes and not during the exam period.

If a student driver/rider finishes an exam and wishes to check out (only between class periods) they must follow the procedures below:

  • Upon arrival to school, present a parent note, copy of parent’s state ID, and valid parental phone number to Ms. Hale’s office.
  • Parents can also email the note to MCHSattendance@millingtonschools.org with the reason for checkout, time of checkout, a contact number for the parent/guardian, and copy parent picture identification.
  • Upon verification with the parent/guardian, the student will be issued an early checkout slip for the designated time. The student will sign-out in the Attendance Office and exit the building using the back doors.
  • If school staff is unable to verify the note with the parent/guardian, the student will not be allowed to checkout.
  • If a student needs to be checked out by a parent or emergency contact they must follow the normal procedures.

If a student is exempt from morning exams, he/she must follow the procedures below:

  • Check in the guidance office. 
  • Reason for the late check-in should be listed as an “exam exemption” 

If an exempt students chooses to come to school, he/she must follow their normal schedule and attend their assigned classes.  They are not allowed to be in any other classes or locations on campus.  Those in violation of this procedure are subject to disciplinary action.

Changes to attendance can only occur within 72 hour after an absence.
