MCHS Sends 1st Model UN Competition Group to Rhodes Competition
02/20/2018
Every year Rhodes College hosts the Mid-South Model United Nations Conference. Some 200 or more high school students from throughout the Mid-South region travel to Rhodes to participate in the region’s most competitive conference. This is the first year for MCHS to have a Model UN Competition Group and these six young people gave up three of their four day weekend to attend and participate in the Model UN Conference at Rhodes College. This event took much much planning, hard work and each member had to study and address issues facing our global world. Each night of competition meant more research and possibly resolution papers to be written. They learned to negotiate and debate issues. The six amazing students are: Jaryn Hogan Rocky Karash Donnie Young Johnnie Bolgeo Dalton Fitzgerald Jonas Carter Please congratulate them on a job well done. They represented MCHS well and competed with many elite private schools.

Student & Teacher of the Month February 2018
02/06/2018
The purpose of the Trojan of the Month Award also known as Student of the Month is to recognize an outstanding student for his/her academic achievement, character, leadership, and overall positive impact on Millington Central High School and on the greater Millington community. The February student of the month is Savannah Manson. Dr. Bierdz and Mrs. Crosley had some great things to say about Savannah. Trustworthy. Dependable. Responsible. These are only some of the positive attributes of this natural-born leader. As executive vice-president of Trojan Council, we can always count on her to help preside over Council meetings, lend a hand with Council projects, and ensure that our concession stand runs smoothly, both by volunteering to work and by encouraging others to volunteer. She has also represented MCHS well with HOSA at regional competitions, and she will soon represent us again at the HOSA state competitions. In addition to the many clubs and organizations she belongs to, she also volunteers to help MCHS athletic trainers at both home and away games. Outside of school, she spends countless hours volunteering in the community and is active with Young Life and her church. She does all of this while maintaining a positive attitude and an outstanding GPA. The February teacher of the month is Mr. Calvin Ellis. Brittany Henderson said, "Mr.Ellis is a really good teacher. He pushes his students to be the best they can be and he’s just an all around encouraging person. I think that’s what the teacher of the month consists of pushing their students so they can be the best they can be and that has his name written all over it."
