Groundhog Update - Friday, February 6

Posted Date: 02/05/26 (01:00 PM)

πŸ¦«πŸš” Groundhog Update πŸŒΈβ„οΈ

The groundhog has officially been thrown in jail, and we are eagerly awaiting for him to release spring. Mr. Griffin and the Trojans are TIRED! 😴😴😴 Unfortunately, his trail of winter is still refusing to cooperate, and neighborhood roads and side streets remain unsafe for bus travel.

Because of this, Millington Municipal Schools will be closed on Friday, February 6.

As always, the safety of our students and staff comes first ❀️. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these winter weather challenges.

🏫 Staff Update:
All Central Office staff and Principals will need to report to work on a modified schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

❄️ This closure marks Day 10, and we have officially exhausted all built in inclement weather days.

πŸ“‹ As a reminder, we are working closely with the Commissioner of Education at the state level to ensure our next steps align with their guidance. Adding days to the school calendar would be an absolute last resort and is not currently planned. Any calendar changes would require approval from the Tennessee Department of Education before being shared publicly. We will keep everyone informed once decisions are final and approved.

🌞 The good news? Warmer temperatures tomorrow and staying above freezing should finally melt the icy roadways. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday, February 9! πŸ–€πŸ’›

Stay safe, stay warm, and fingers crossed for spring 🌷🀞
