Student & Teacher of the Month December
Student & Teacher of the Month December
12/06/2017
The purpose of the Trojan of the Month Award also known as Student of the Month is to recognize an outstanding student for his/her academic achievement, character, leadership, and overall positive impact on Millington Central High School and on the greater Millington community. The December student of the month is Stephanie Sheppard. Although low key, this student stands out in a crowd. Despite her limitations, she continues to work hard and meet the expectations of her teachers. This student has been through a lot this year, but despite her own personal troubles, she continues to push through with a smile on her face. She encourages and puts others before herself. She's a silent leader, always checking on her friends and teachers. Congratulations Stephanie! The December Teacher of the Month is Charles Patterson. This individual consistently goes above and beyond expectations to deliver passionate, thought-provoking lessons that produce real and lasting results in the lives of his students. Like one student explained, "His class is the only class I think about when I'm not at school. He makes me look at the world and myself in ways I've never been asked to before." Another student remarked that this teacher "shows how much he cares for us by telling us the truth about the real world and how to prepare ourselves for its challenges." Put simply, this teacher's passion, commitment, and impact are without parallel. He has devoted his entire career to improving the lives of young people and deserves to be recognized in a major way for the value of what he offers. Congratulations Mr. Patterson!

The purpose of the Trojan of the Month Award also known as Student of the Month is to recognize an outstanding student for his/her academic achievement, character, leadership, and overall positive impact on Millington Central High School and on the greater Millington community. Ms. Woodring nominated Artis Hardaway as Student of the Month for November. When asked why she believed this student deserves to receive the Trojan of the Month honor and what separates the student from his/her peers, Mrs. Woodring responded with the following: "Artis is an outstanding band student. This year, he is serving as drum major, the highest leadership position in the band. He not only conducts the band during marching season, but also does a lot of work behind the scenes helping me (Mrs. Woodring) and working with other students. Artis has been taking private music lessons for several years. He has made the All-West Honor Band every year of high school and middle school. This year, he is auditioning for both the All-West Orchestra and the All-West Honor Band. He is very dedicated to his instrument and the band, and he is always striving to do better. His outstanding character is a positive influence for younger band students." Congratulations Artis! The purpose of the Teacher and Faculty of the Month Award is to recognize outstanding teachers and faculty who demonstrate excellence in the classroom, leadership, dedication and community involvement. This month, Rosemary Boswell was chosen as Teacher of the Month for MCHS. When asked why this nominee should be considered for this award, one student wrote: "Even though i haven't had her since I was in 9th grade, she was one of the first teachers to help me understand math, not to mention enjoy it. She may have pushed us, but she knew out limits. She helped me when I was struggling, never letting me give up. Thanks to her I only missed a few problems on her exams, scoring over a 90. When asked what makes this nominee stand out amongst their peers, one student wrote: " She chose a difficult subject to teach and made it easy for many to understand. She didn't seem upset about have to help certain students more, even when they were refusing to listen. When asked how this nominee has demonstrated promoting positive student relations, teaching, increasing student achievement, community involvement, and/or inspiring others, one student wrote: "As I mentioned before, she is one of the few people to make me enjoy math. For that, I can't thank her enough." Congratulations Ms. Boswell!
